Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs (H.E.P.S.N.)
The HEPSN Cell was set up in the College under the scheme of UGC’s XIth Plan.
The HEPSN scheme is meant for creating an environment at higher education institutions to enrich the learning experiences of differently-abled persons.
A ramp at the entrance, specially designed washroom, lift, railings on the staircase, wheelchairs, and special seating in the library and canteen are some of the facilities provided in the College for the benefit of the differently-abled students and staff.
The Cell:
- Undertakes activities such as arranging talks for sensitization about the challenges faced by differently-abled persons’,
- provides reader facility to students with visual impairment and writers to other differently-abled students during examinations,
- encourages differently-abled students to participate in co-curricular, extra-curricular, and sports activities.
- undertakes outreach activities including cleaning drives, celebrations of local festivals at Cheshire Home, a home for the paraplegic, organizing exhibitions cum sale of products handmade by the inmates of Cheshire Home.
